COVID-19 response for Capital Projects
Temporary Suspension For On-Site Construction Work
In response to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Executive Order for a statewide shelter-in-place mandate on March 20, 2020, the University of Illinois System is suspending construction activities across each of our universities on all construction projects deemed non-essential. Construction activities will continue on projects deemed essential, projects near completion, or projects with less than 10 working individuals. Project Managers at each university contact all vendors directly impacted by the construction activity suspension.
For continuing projects during this period, contractors are directed to host all required project meetings remotely according to the instructions provided by each university construction unit. Capital projects that are in a design phase may continue with the Professional Services Consultant and university staff working remotely to advance the design work.
The U. of I. System wants to emphasize that your project has not been cancelled, but is being suspended to comply with State of Illinois mandates for sheltering-in-place. This action is being taken for the safety of our staff, our construction community, and the public at large.
Please direct additional questions to your university project manager. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we collectively work to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 virus across the State of Illinois. Additional information related to COVID-19 specific to each campus is available at:
